My parents used to play this game with my grandmother’s old German Shepherd where they’d drag a pole along the ground and she’d chase it.
She loved it so much that she’d howl and whine like she were being beaten. I’m honestly surprised that nobody called the police.

The German Shepherd is a very vocal breed; yes, nearly all sounds they make sound like squeals and whines, but many of it is talking. Of course, with this woman moaning at him, I bet it was indeed a whine.
